Landscaping is hard work where an individual usually starts with the basic labor skills of
pushing a wheel barrow and digging holes.  Landscape jobs usually have laborers, foreman,
and masons on there site crew.  Most individuals gain interest in landscaping by starting as a
laborer for a summer job.  Depending on your career goals, you may decide to work hard, be
dedicated, and learn on the job and take advantage of local educational work shops.  This will
provide you with great on the job experience and make you a valuable crew foreman.  If you
want your career to extend beyond the job site, a formal education is recommended.  Many
technical colleges offer landscaping programs, while larger colleges and universities offer
degree programs in landscape horticulture and other landscape related concentrations.
